FY00 Key Initiatives:
Cutter HEALY Follow-on (OE); Polar Icebreaker Replacement (AC&I): Provides for the
deployment of HEALY, a new, more scientifically capable polar icebreaker. HEALY will
provide the capability to fulfill backlogged national research requirements in the polar
regions.
Polar Icebreaker Reliability Improvement (AC&I): Restores the reliability of the 2
existing polar icebreakers to halt escalating maintenance problems and ensure they
remain able to carry out mission requirements in the Antarctic.
