and attract minority and women job candidates will include establishing a national network
with minority and women organizations to develop partnerships, conducting workshops at
their conferences, and publicizing the Coast Guard's work force projections.
4.
RESPONSIBILITIES.
a. Commandant (G-P).
(1) Provide to the Commandant(G-H) promotional materials, including vacancy
projections, which identify those occupations typically recruited at Coast Guard units.
(2) Develop and oversee initiatives to support the National Affirmative Employment
Recruitment Strategy for all major occupations typically recruited or covered by the
annual vacancy projections.
b. Commandant (G-H).
(1) Serve as liaison to special interest groups, (i.e., National Council of La Raza,
Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Association of Colleges and
Universities, Society of ProfessiOnal Hispanic Engineers, National Association for
Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, National Council of Hispanic Women, National
Indian Education Association) to secure their assistance in ensuring minorities and
women are in the applicant pool of candidates for positions in the Coast Guard.
(2) Provide vacancy projections, and other Affirmative Employment (AEP) information
to special interest groups and organizations.
c. Area and District Commanders, Commanders of Maintenance
and Logistics Commands and Commanding Officers of
Headquarters units.
(1) Provide sufficient fiscal resources, where possible, to support the unit's minority and
women recruitment program efforts.
(2) Encourage managers' and supervisors' support and involvement in local recruiting
efforts.
(3) Provide technical expertise at job fairs, college and university career days, and
other recruitment activities (commanders MLC's and commanding officers of
Headquarters units with civilian personnel offices only).
