CARE AND USE OF MAM KITS.
a.
(1)
Each kit consists of certain printed circuit cards and memory stacks that suffer
high casualty rates. These kits are subdivided into a "Fixed Kit" and a "Variable
Kit". The Fixed Kit contains cards which are common to all single bay AN/UYK-
7s. The Variable Kit contains circuit cards which are peculiar to AN/UYK-7s
used with the Mk 92 Mod 1 Fire Control System (FCS).
(2)
The kits were delivered with a listing of the cards showing their arrangement in
the storage boxes. This is the definitive list for the MAM Kit. Part III, Section CF-
OSI of the cutter's COSAL Manual also contains a list of the MAM cards.
b.
Stowage. The kits were shipped in two electrostaticproof boxes which shall also serve
as storage boxes for the kits. The kits shall be stored in a workspace. The kits shall not
be stored in the cutter's storeroom under individual circuit card stock numbers.
Although only a few of the circuit cards are electrostatically sensitive, handling of all
the cards should be kept to a minimum and the individual cards should be kept wrapped
in the original foil wrapper.
c.
Use. If computer diagnostics indicate a particular card is suspect, the appropriate MAM
card should be installed in place of the suspect card. If the problem is corrected, the
MAM card is to be removed and a replacement card drawn from the storeroom installed.
If the problem is not corrected, the MAM card is to be removed and the original card
reinstalled. If a storeroom spare is not available to replace a defective card, the MAM
card may be used as a temporary repair if operational requirements dictate. A
replacement card must be requisitioned immediately to replenish the MAM kit.
