THE ARNOLD SOBEL ENDOWMENT FUND SCHOLARSHIP
1.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this Notice is to promulgate information and procedures
regarding applications for the Sobel Endowment Fund Schlorship for dependent children of
U. S. Coast Guard enlisted personnel on active duty, retired, or deceased; or Coast Guard
Reservists on extended active duty. This Instruction also replaces all previous
COMDTNOTES about this scholarship.

ACTION. Area and district commanders, commanders of maintenance and logistics
commands, Commander, Coast Guard Activities Europe, shall ensure widest dissemination of
this instruction.
3.
DISCUSSION.
a.
The Arnold Sobel Endowment Fund, administered by the Coast Guard Foundation,
normally offers up to two scholarships for each school year. Eligibility requirements:
(1) dependent children of enlisted personnel in the U. S. Coast Guard on active duty,
retired, or deceased; or (2) dependent children of enlisted personnel in the U. S. Coast
Guard Reserve currently on extended active duty for 180 days or more.
b.
The scholarship selection committee will consist of the President of the Coast Guard
Foundation; the Superintendent of the Coast Guard Academy; Commandant (G-P); and
the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard.
