(3) A technical achievement or breakthrough in design, engineering, or maintenance of
aircraft and/or associated systems.
(4) Media support of Coast Guard aviation in publications, art, or audiovisual
presentations.
(5) Public and/or official promotion or support of Coast Guard aviation.
5.
PROCEDURES FOR NOMINATING.
a.
Nominations may be submitted with supporting documentation to the Chief, Aviation
Division when a candidate meets the appropriate criteria. Documentation should include
a biography of the individual including photographs and other supporting information as
appropriate.
b.
Nominations will be reviewed by the Chief, Office of Law Enforcement and Defense
Operations and submitted to the Commandant with recommendations concerning
approval.
c.
Upon approval by the Commandant, the designation will be presented to the recipient at
an appropriate ceremony. This ceremony will be coordinated with the Aviation
Division which will provide a certificate and letter of designation. The name of the
recipient will be entered on the official list of Honorary Coast Guard Aviators.
d.
The official list of Honorary Coast Guard Aviators will be updated as new names are
added. The list will be maintained in the archives of the Coast Guard Historian in
Headquarters.
6.
ACTION. Area and district commanders, commanders of maintenance and logistics
commands, Commander, Coast Guard Activities, Europe, and unit commanding officers shall
