COAST GUARD LOGISTICS ADVISORY COUNCIL
1. PURPOSE. To establish and constitute the Coast Guard Logistics Advisory Council (CGLAC).
2. ACTION. Area and district commanders, commanders of maintenance and logistics commands,
commanding officers of headquarters units, assistant commandants for directorates, Chief Counsel,
and special staff officers at headquarters shall ensure appropriate distribution of this Instruction.

3. DIRECTIVES AFFECTED. None.
4. DISCUSSION. The CGLAC is the Coast Guard's senior logistics forum, responsible for oversight
of the aggressive transformation of logistics to more centralized support and provide oversight of
all aspects of logistics (people, information, and infrastructure). Although not as agile and
responsive as we would like at times, the existing logistics system has served us well since Gilbert
I. The Deepwater contract award and the post 9-11 environment have created an increased demand
for agility and responsiveness that the existing logistics systems are unable to provide. These new
drivers and the transition to the Department of Homeland Security requires strong collaborative
leadership to orchestrate a logistics transformation that will simplify and streamline logistics
support when and where the operator needs it. The CGLAC shall meet quarterly. Co-chaired by
the Assistant Commandants for Systems and Human Resources, members of the CGLAC are:
a. Assistant Commandants (A, O, M, S, W)
b. Program Executive Officer for Deepwater
c. Director of Information and Technology
d. Commander, Maintenance and Logistics Command Atlantic and Pacific
