RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SEH TECHNICIAN
PURPOSE. The following outlines the Safety and Environmental Health (EH) Activity Program
Requirements required by Commandant policy. Major requirements are summarized under each
program element. Coast Guard reference sources containing appropriate policy and activities are
identified. The Safety and Environmental Health Technician shall provide support to the SHE
Officer and unit Commanding Officers in implementing these elements.
PROGRAM ELEMENT/ACTIVITY AND PRIORITY:
a.
Risk Identification and Assessment in Support of the District SEH Officer.

Conduct periodic workplace visits to identify
high hazard activities

Conduct emergency response risk assessments as
necessary and provide on-site support to the
Federal on Scene Coordinator (FOSC) as requested

Evaluate risk associated with various hazardous
workplaces and operations

Identify personnel at risk

Inform workers of exposure levels measured

Forward a copy of all risk assessment survey reports
COMDT (G-KSE) and the appropriate MLC(k)

Identify all hazardous materials to meet inventory
requirements
