1.
PURPOSE. The purpose of this Instruction is to promulgate policy concerning the flight
status of Coast Guard aviators.
2.
ACTION Commanding Officers shall make the contents of this Instruction available to all
personnel affected by it.
3.
DIRECTIVES AFFECTED|. COMDTINST 3740.1A is hereby canceled.
4.
DEFINITIONS.
a.
Aviation Billet: Those billets listed in reference (a) with Officer Billet Codes (OBC)
assigned from the 6000-6999 series.
b.
Rotational Billet: Billets with aviators assigned having an OBC assigned from other
than the 6000-6999 series.
5.
DESIGNATION OF BILLETS
a.
The designation of the flying status of a particular billet will be published in the orders
directing the assignment.
b.
Duty Involving Flying-Operation (DIFOPS): All aviation billets at units with aircraft
attached are designated DIFOPS billets.
