Direct Commission Aviators assigned to a Coast Guard air station for their initial
operational tour.

Aviators ordered to Navy training commands to serve as instructor pilots.

Aviators assigned to command cadre.

Aviators who receive transition training as a result of Service direction, i.e., those who
transfer to a unit that does not have an aircraft in which the aviator is currently qualified.
This does not apply if the individual specifically requests to transfer to a unit that does not
have an aircraft that he or she is currently qualified in.
b. The six-year obligation incurred in conjunction with aircraft transition training will be
applied in addition to all other obligated service.
c. Send all requests for aircraft transition training in writing to Commander, Coast Guard
Personnel Command (CGPC-opm-2). The request must include a statement indicating
agreement to accept the six-year obligated service requirement on completion of
training.
