c.
Monitoring Of Cases Selected.
(1) Space is defined as "available" when the waiting period between appointments for
active duty members does not exceed seven working days. This seven-day guideline
shall be used as the indicator of the maximum amount of nonactive duty care
provided.
(2) Senior dental officers shall monitor active duty reappointment times to ensure
compliance. With MLC(k) approval, this reappointment time standard may be
relaxed in OUTCONUS clinics where the active duty populations may be low and
access to Delta Dental providers difficult.
d.
Costs. Costs of this program are to be defrayed from clinic funds, except that private
sector laboratory costs for active duty dependents must be borne by the patient. Private
sector laboratory costs for retired personnel will be defrayed from clinic funds, per Article
11-A-3.b. of the Medical Manual, COMDTINST M6000.1(series). Prosthetics appliances
may be fabricated in-house at no cost to any eligible nonactive duty patient, providing that
the time required for such fabrication does not jeopardize or delay active duty care.
